Hindu Tradition

Sanatana Dharma, the eternal way, encompasses one of the world's oldest living spiritual traditions

Core Teachings

Brahman

The ultimate reality, the infinite consciousness that pervades all existence. Brahman is beyond all attributes, eternal, and unchanging.

Atman

The true Self, the innermost essence of every being. The core teaching of Advaita Vedanta is "Tat Tvam Asi" (That Thou Art) - recognizing the identity of Atman and Brahman.

Maya

The illusory nature of the phenomenal world. Through maya, the one appears as many, and the eternal appears as temporal.

Moksha

Liberation from the cycle of birth and death, achieved through Self-realization and recognition of one's true nature as Brahman.

Paths to Realization

Jnana Yoga

The path of knowledge and wisdom through study of scriptures, contemplation, and self-inquiry.

Bhakti Yoga

The path of devotion and love for the Divine, expressed through prayer, worship, and surrender.

Karma Yoga

The path of selfless action and service, performing one's duties without attachment to results.

Raja Yoga

The royal path of meditation and mental discipline, systematized in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.

Sacred Texts

The Vedas

The most ancient scriptures, containing hymns, rituals, and philosophical insights

The Upanishads

Philosophical texts exploring the nature of reality, consciousness, and the Self

The Bhagavad Gita

A dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna on dharma, yoga, and Self-realization

"As the same fire assumes different shapes when it consumes objects differing in shape, so does the one Self take the shape of every creature in whom he is present."

— Katha Upanishad
