At this point, Goenka explains the importance of observing sensations without reaction. This is where the real transformation happens - in the space between stimulus and response.
Sat for 25 minutes focusing on breath and body sensations. Mind was restless at first but settled after about 10 minutes. Noticed tension in shoulders and consciously relaxed. Felt calm and centered afterward.
The restlessness at the beginning is normal. Patience with the process is key.
Noticed today how the loving-kindness practice from yesterday's meditation naturally arose during a difficult conversation. The phrases 'may I be peaceful, may you be peaceful' came to mind automatically.
